Other Projects

Various Projects | 2018 - 2020

Throughout my studies, I had the opportunity to expand my horizons and explore a variety of fascinating design topics. All these exciting projects shaped me and led to the designer I am today, influencing my current approach and methods. This exploration was an invaluable experience, helping me develop and refine my design thinking.

Light & Colour

Aesthetic phenomena from physics - Bachelor Thesis

Color is a physical phenomenon of light. What exactly happens when light hits a surface and only then enables us to perceive color?

In four playful experiments participants can explore different visual effects from the physics of light and color.

Mycelium Grown Shoes

University project | 2019

What if... we could grow our shoes? Trying to answer this speculative question this project is exploring the potential of fungi for futuristic shoe designs. The idea is to develop a closed system for eco and consumer friendly shoe production. The core of this project is mycelium as partner species and which goes hand in hand with innovative 3D printing technologies.

Auxetic Shoesole

University project | 2018

Modifying an objects physical structure changes its flexibility and stability. These experiments focus on the purpose of shoe soles and are inspired by the honey comb structure.

The outcome is a mixture of a “bouncing” wave structure that can absorb vertical pressure and an auxetic triangle structure that gives flexibility in the horizontal directions. The 3d print shows how the inner structure of a shoe sole could look like which combines these two types of flexible structures.

Textile Workshops

University project | 2019 - 2020

In a series of textile workshops, I guided teenagers and adults through the process of garment repair and redesign, fostering both creativity and sustainability. The participants engaged deeply with textile topics, learned various mending techniques, and created their own unique designs. Collaborating with secondhand shops and schools, the workshops culminated in a vibrant exhibition showcasing the teenagers' inventive creations.

Creative workshops for kids

Charity work | 2018

Within a group of three people I organised a six-weeks summer wood workshop for children (aged 6 - 10 years) at a womens’ refugee house in Bremen. We were responsible for planning the complete content, sourcing the materials, teaching kids to work with wood tools, including handsaw, nail and hammer, and paint. In the end we had a small exhibition and celebration with the kids and their mothers.
